Animals can come into our branch from a wide variety of areas – cruelty or welfare cases rescued by the RSPCA Inspectorate, stray animals being found or members of the public no longer being able to care for their pets – but we strive to help as many of them as we can find their forever homes.
In one such case, our branch was lucky enough to welcome in 7 animals from the same home – though not all at once as we were bursting at the seams! First came Lilly, Leo and Cass along with their mother, Pixie on the 1st of May 2024. The three kittens were originally all kept in one pen and wrongly labelled all male – but the keen-eyes cattery staff managed to nab Lilly away from her unneutered brothers before anything unsavoury happened!
Lilly was a playful calico kitten who was full of the joys – and she caught the eye of a lovely couple who were able to provide her with a lovely home, so she was the first one to be adopted on the 15th June 2024, spending just over a month in our care.
Leo and Cass were adopted shortly after, they were lucky enough to find an adopter happy to take them both so went to their new home together on the 4th July 2024. Their adopter tells us that they are very much doted on by the children, and causing plenty of mischief still!
Initially, we thought it might be quite nice for Pixie to be rehomed with other cats: but after Lilly was adopted, she was enjoying some alone time! She went to a lovely home where she can enjoy some peace and quiet, and her owner is completely besotted with her! She went to her new home on the 19th August 2024!
Now that we’d managed to clear out some space, we were able to take on the rest of the cats from the same house. It’s thought that though they are older than the others, Pebbles and Suzi are also Pixie’s kittens, perhaps from an earlier litter. We don’t know the relation of Harry to everyone, but though he may not be blood, he was still part of the group so had to come with!
We were deciding whether to keep Pebbles and Suzi together after the success of Leo and Cass, however we noticed the girls weren’t particularly bonded so they could both go their own ways! Harry, Pebbles and Suzi all came to our branch on the 23rd July 2024.
Pebbles was adopted on the 26th August 2024, and Suzi wasn’t far behind – being adopted just 2 days later! The girls have both gone to loving homes where they are being treated: we’ve received updates and pictures showing us that they are settled in wonderfully!
Harry was the oldest of the lot, at an estimated 15 years old. He’s a tabby cat and initially after a slow start, we were a little worried that his age would put people off – but we did receive plenty of interest and inquiries about him! Eventually, we had to parse this down to the chosen adopter, and are pleased to say that Harry has been rehomed with a companion of similar age on the 13th September 2024!
