Rabbits Available

DONATION REQUIRED -
We rehome rabbits in pairs, at a cost of only £30 per pair, or if a rabbit does not like others / you already have a single rabbit to bond with, at a cost of £20. All of our rabbits are boostered for myximotosis & now all are neutered & microchipped.  You are encouraged to compare this to the cost of buying a rabbit in a pet shop (circa £40 per pair) + neutering (£40 for a male, £60 per female approx) + myxi (£15 each approx) + chipping (up to £25 each).  So, by getting a pair of rabbits from us, you are not only doing your bit for animal welfare, you are also saving money!  the adoption fee for a single Giant is £100 and £150 for a bonded pair

We usually have at least 10 rabbits looking for homes (with a long waiting list of many more), & so please rehome a rescue rabbit instead of encouraging breeding by profiteering pet shops or people who irresponsibly allow their rabbit to breed, when there are THOUSANDS in rescues just desperate for a home.

Rabbits come in the top group of neglected pets, so when considering any new pet

- think about WHO wants the pet, rabbits are usually bought for children, but it is usually parents who take on the cleaning, feeding, grooming & spending time with this bundle of fur when the novelty wears off

- talk to other rabbit owners, and see how much time & work is needed to keep them happy & healthy. Your vet or local rescue centre will be happy to advise you in your choice of pet.  Your vet would also be able to advise about the minimal cost of regular teeth trimming or even front teeth removal (which can be beneficial to bunny)

- will current pets accept a new family member? There will always be teething problems, but if you gather as much information as possible you should be able to deal with them. Making the right choice, you will get a very loving and giving new pet.

Our rabbits are looked after in 3 places, if you do not see the rabbit you are after, please give us a call, as we have lots who need homes, who we haven't had time to get onto the site -

1) by our main rabbit foster mum, Dawn who can be contacted on 01522 532692 to answer any queries at all that you might have.  You can also email Dawn directly on This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .  Please remember Dawn is a volunteer,  who shares her home and busy life with our rabbits.  She might not be available to take your call immediately - please be patient, she will get back to you.

2) we are very pleased to welcome Charlotte, our new 2nd volunteer foster mum.  She can be contacted on This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

3) Ruskington Kennels 01526 833977 http://www.ruskingtonboardingkennels.co.uk/ who, as well as rabbits from our branch also care for any other of our small furries (hamsters, mice and gerbils).  Ruskington also care for many rabbits from 2 other local RSPCA branches, Lincs East (Boston) and Lincs North East (Grimsby), who, like us, can rehome to any location.  Again, they always have lots of rabbits, including babies, waiting for a home.

patchrabbit.jpgPATCH needs a very special type of home. He is a biter and does not like to be handled at all. We are currently seeking the advice of a rabbit behaviouralist to see if we can get him over his aggression. Patch needs a home where he can have plenty of space and an understanding owner. He is vaccinated and neutered and would bond with the right bunny. If you would be interested in seeing Patch, please contact Dawn or Charlotte. 4 AUGUST 2010: Just to give you an update. Patch is now again a single bunny. Patch will not be able to be bonded with another rabbit due to his aggression as he has been known to take it out on his partner which is why we have had to unfortunately separate him from Tilly. Patch can only be re-homed to someone experienced and they must be aware he will bite. It would be lovely to see him in an enclosed area that he can be a bunny with very little handling but someone to still love him as he is a beautiful bunny just the biting lets him down.

Tilly – is now a single lady who will be best suited with another bunny as she is very affectionate in grooming her partner. Its just a shame it didn’t work out with Patch biting her we had to make the decision to split them. Tilly is a lionhead bunny and about 2 years of age.

Ellie – is about a year old her exact age is un-known. She is a British Giant cross and can be a stroppy bunny when time to go to bed however enjoys binkying round the garden and has fallen in love with my dog. She has been neutered and is now ready and waiting for a loving home to call her own. Photo to follow as she will not sit still long enough for me to take one that isn’t blurred.

Ruskington Kennels near Sleaford have many other rabbits currently waiting for a home (since they also care for rabbits from 2 other local RSPCA branches), so please get in touch with Alistair if Dawn / Charlotte have not got the right rabbit for you - 01526 833977.
